Scholarship Requirements and Application
The Central Carolina Black
Nurses’ Council, Inc, a chapter of the National Black Nurses’
Association, Inc. provides awards for scholarships and text books
annually. These awards are based on - scholastic achievement
-
financial need
- performance on a written essay
- level of
community involvement
Scholarship
Requirements: -
Candidate must be
currently enrolled in an approved nursing program at the time of
application (A.D., Diploma, B.S.N., L.P.N./L.V.N., Masters or
Doctorate) and in good scholastic standing with a minimum grade point
average of 2.7.
- Candidate must be an
active member of the Central Carolina Black Nurses’ Council, Inc.
- An application may be
made at any level of the student’s nursing program
Student
Application Procedures:
- Each candidate will
submit completed CCBNC scholarship application form and recent
photograph.
Each application must be accompanied by-
Official sealed
transcript from School of Nursing
-
Two (2) letters of
recommendation. One must be from a faculty member of the School of
Nursing.
- Written Essay
-
The
essay should be 3 to 5 pages typed and double spaced.

Include a description of extracurricular activities and community
involvement. These may include but not limited to local chapter
activities, school level projects, community based projects and
organizations, state level student nurse activities, activities
impacting the health and social condition of African Americans and
other minority groups.
- Also included in the essay will be a
presentation of your ideas on what you can do as an individual to
improve the health state and/or social condition of African Americans
and a statement about your future goals in nursing.
Additional items to
support the application may include documented evidence of awards,
honors, certificates, involvement in the African American community,
etc.
Deadline for
submitting scholarship application is October 31 of the current year.
